Play Draft – March 13th March 13, 2018  |  phil_beneteau89

In this segment, I will take a look at Play Draft player options, values, and position scarcity. If you have never played on Draft, it is a very fun Daily Fantasy Sports website/app that allows you to draft players to with others to create unique lineups for the slate. Unlike DraftKings, FanDuel, and Yahoo, you are not given a salary cap, instead, you participate in a snake draft which is determined randomly prior to the draft. You then have 30 seconds to draft your player. The roster construction is simple; 2 guards, 2 forwards, and 1 center. They have contests that are head-to-head drafts, three player drafts, six players drafts, 10 player drafts (large slates only) as well as they run other fun tournaments!

I will offer DRAFT and FantasyLabs projections for you to see any discrepancies.

FL = FantasyLab

Top Guards:

— Tier 1 —

Russell Westbrook – DRAFT projection – 54.6 / FL projection – 52.8

— Tier 2 —

Devin Booker – DRAFT projection – 38.4 / FL projection – 39.8

Victor Oladipo – DRAFT projection – 41.1 / FL projection – 41.6

Jrue Holiday – DRAFT projection – 39.0 / FL projection – 40.7

Kemba Walker – DRAFT projection – 39.9 / FL projection – 37.4

Ben Simmons – DRAFT projection – 40.5 / FL projection – 39.1

Lou Williams – DRAFT projection – 39.8 / FL projection – 38.6

Bradley Beal -DRAFT projection – 39.6 / FL projection – 38.2

— Tier 3 —

DeMar DeRozan – DRAFT projection – 36.9 / FL projection – 36.7

Donovan Mitchell – DRAFT projection – 38.2 / FL projection – 34.5

Ricky Rubio – DRAFT projection – 34.6 / FL projection – 34.4

Lonzo Ball – DRAFT projection – 36.0 / FL projection – 37.8

Kyle Lowry – DRAFT projection – 34.2 / FL projection – 33.2

The guard position is loaded today with top quality talent. While we only have one top tier stud, Russell Westbrook, the second and third tiers offer plenty of upside. I am finding myself playing in 6 man and 10 man drafts today simply because of the various options I like! I believe that Devin Booker has one of the top upsides at the guard spot today in a matchup with the Cavaliers.

Top Forwards:

— Tier 1 —

Anthony Davis – DRAFT projection – 55.3 / FL projection – 59.0

LeBron James – DRAFT projection – 58.1 / FL projection – 56.6

— Tier 2 —

LaMarcus Aldridge – DRAFT projection – 37.1 / FL projection – 39

Julius Randle – DRAFT projection – 39.8 / FL projection – 38.1

Paul George – DRAFT projection – 39.7 / FL projection – 38.1

Blake Griffin – DRAFT projection – 39.4 / FL projection – 36.9

Tobias Harris – DRAFT projection – 37.4 / FL projection – 35.4

Larry Nance Jr. – DRAFT projection – 34.5 / FL projection – 36.7

— Tier 3 —

Kyle Kuzma – DRAFT projection – 35.8 / FL projection – 31.1

T.J. Warren – DRAFT projection – 31.1 / FL projection – 32.4

Andrew Wiggins – DRAFT projection – 32.1 / FL projection – 30.7

Bobby Portis – DRAFT projection – 31.7/ FL projection – 25.4

Otto Porter – DRAFT projection – 30.7 / FL projection – 33.3

In three and four-man leagues, you will have an abundance of quality forwards to choose from. If you are at the back end of a six-man draft I would consider grabbing two second-tier forwards to shore up that spot. You will have plenty of guard and center options when it comes back around. If you are in a 10 man draft, it can get a little dicey after the third tier of forwards. Make sure that you are checking for position runs as the center spot is also one of concern in 10 man leagues today. If you are looking for a late flier that would be in the tier 4 category I would suggest Paul Millsap, Lauri Markkanen, and Taurean Prince.

Top Centers:

— Tier 1 —

Karl-Anthony Towns – DRAFT projection – 47.7 / FL projection – 46.3

— Tier 2 —

Nikola Jokic – DRAFT projection – 44.5 / FL projection – 42.1

Joel Embiid – DRAFT projection – 44.3 / FL projection – 41.1

Andre Drummond – DRAFT projection – 44.9 / FL projection – 38.7

— Tier 3 —

Rudy Gobert – DRAFT projection – 41.3 / FL projection – 39.8

Dwight Howard – DRAFT projection – 40.5 / FL projection – 38.2

DeAndre Jordan – DRAFT projection – 40.0 / FL projection – 38.9

Nikola Vucevic – DRAFT projection – 40.1 / FL projection – 37.2

— Tier 4 —

Brook Lopez – DRAFT projection – 30.4 / FL projection – 31.9

Jonas Valanciunas – DRAFT projection – 31.9 / FL projection – 28.8

In three, four, and six-man drafts the center position is more about preference. I would prefer waiting on a third tier center than to jump at picking Andre Drummond who is in a tough matchup with the slower Utah Jazz. In my opinion, the center spot is a fill at need in the later rounds today, with my main priority of filling my two forward spots with studs today.
