*Check back ONE HOUR before lock for injury and optimal lineup updates*
Ricky Rubio (UTA): Rubio is currently questionable with an injury, but he’s too cheap to ignore at this point. Before his last game, in which he suffered his injury, he had scored 40+ DK points in five consecutive games. Over that span, he averaged 45.9 DK points per game. He gets a good matchup against the Portland Blazers, who he posted a 30/5/1/2 line against earlier this season. His injury status will be key heading up to lock, but if he’s starting, he is an easy player to insert into your lineups.
Andrew Harrison (MEM): Harrison is in a nearly identical situation as Rubio. He is questionable with an illness, but no one truly knows how serious the illness is. He has scored 29+ DK points in each of his last four games with 30+ minutes. The Grizzlies will also be without a few players tonight, solidifying that Harrison will be locked into 30+ minutes once again, if he is able to suit up. There should be news out about him well before lock because Memphis plays at 7 PM EST, so keep an eye out for that. Again, if Harrison is starting, he can safely be used in all leagues.
Additional Notes: Russell Westbrook and Damian Lillard are two higher priced options that can be used tonight, although I likely won’t be paying up for them if Harrison/Rubio are healthy. Dennis Smith Jr. comes with a moderate price tag, and can be considered, as he will be locked into big minutes with Dallas resting a few players. De’Aaron Fox is an option that can be used on FanDuel, as well, but does not make a great play on DraftKings.
Donovan Mitchell (UTA): Mitchell is far and away the best option at shooting guard tonight, which is why he gets the only write up. He has struggled a bit in two of his last three games, although he only played 19 minutes in one because of injury. He has also displayed elite upside recently, scoring 41 and 61.75 DK points in two of his last four contests. He has been enjoying a dominant rookie season, and his price tag is a bit too low across the injury. He also gets a good matchup against the Portland Blazers, who he scored 28 points with six rebounds and three assists against earlier this season.
Additional Notes: On DraftKings, use Mitchell. On FanDuel, use Mitchell. Now we need to find another option on FanDuel. C.J. McCollum, James Harden, and Garrett Temple all come with varying price tags, and can be considered. These three can also be considered on DraftKings, but only in the guard spot. I understand loading up on one semi-risky option isn’t generally the best way to go, but it’s a small slate, and Mitchell is too cheap.
Harrison Barnes (DAL): Barnes is one of only a few healthy players left for Dallas tonight. He has been struggling a bit recently, but he is still averaging 18.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.0 assist, and 1.0 steal over the last 10 days. He gets a good matchup against the Houston Rockets, who rank 27th in the NBA against small forwards. Barnes comes with a reasonable price tag, and will be the focal point of the offense tonight. He can be considered in all leagues.
Dillon Brooks (MEM): Brooks doesn’t always seem to produce, but he is a cheap option that is essentially guaranteed 30+ minutes tonight. Over the last 10 days, Brooks is averaging 12.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.4 steals in 32.3 minutes per game. His floor is slightly under 20 DK points, but his ceiling is significantly higher. This the a floor/ceiling combo we’re willing to take a risk on because of the smaller slate.
Additional Notes: These two are far and away the top options on DraftKings at this point. If Westbrook/Anthony are ruled out, Paul George will fly up the rankings. George is a viable option for his price tag on FanDuel, though. Joe Ingles is another great option on FanDuel, and he comes with a fairly low price tag. Pairing him and Brooks is a cheap way to fill out small forward tonight.
Derrick Favors (UTA): Do you see a trend here? Attack Utah. Favors is an inconsistent option, but that does not mean he is not useful tonight. His inconsistencies have kept his price tag low, but he has scored 28+ DK points in six of his last 10 games. He has also flashed 40 DK point upside over that span. He gets a great matchup against the Portland Blazers, who rank 22nd in the NBA against power forwards, and Favors can be used in tournaments tonight.
Dwight Powell (DAL): Powell has caught fire recently, as he’s averaging 13.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.2 steals in 28.3 minutes per game over the last 10 days. He will be locked into big minutes with multiple players out for Dallas tonight. Powell still comes with a fairly low price tag, and he has scored 28+ DK points in each of his last four contests (without being guaranteed big minutes). He is one of the best options on the board.
Additional Notes: Maxi Kleber is the other most obvious option at power forward tonight, especially on FanDuel. He will see bigger minutes with Dallas resting players, and he can be considered in all leagues. Al-Farouq Aminu is a player that can be considered in the mid-price range on DraftKings, while Ed Davis and Jarell Martin can be used as salary relief options on FanDuel.
Rudy Gobert (UTA): Gobert is a double double threat on a nightly basis, as he has now double doubled in three of his last four games. He has also scored 35+ DK points in each of those double doubles, but he has struggled to score at times because of his lack of offensive opportunities. Similarly to the other Utah players, Gobert’s price tag is a down a bit right now, making him a prime candidate to use on a short four game slate.
Additional Notes: Gobert is the top center option tonight, but there are a few other viable options. Steven Adams makes a lot of sense, as the Thunder will be playing at home tonight, where he is a significantly better option. Marc Gasol and Karl-Anthony Towns can be considered on all sites, as well. This is not a position that you truly want to go cheap at tonight.
