Jason’s Daily Fantasy Basketball Picks
Damian Lillard – Damian Lillard can be rostered in both 50/50 contests and tournaments tonight against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Timberwolves love to push the pace of the game, and the Portland Trailblazers are on the same speed boat. Lillard has over 45 fantasy points in four consecutive games, posting over 50 fantasy points in two of those games, and over 64 fantasy points once. Expect Lillard to hit value, and his upside is around 65-70 tonight. This is a great matchup to pick on.
Justin’s Rapid Reaction: Lillard is an elite option at point guard.
Rodney Hood – Rodney Hood has been dealing with a knee injury, but he is expected to play in full tonight against the New Orleans Pelicans. In his last game, Hood posted over 35 fantasy points in 33 minutes. He has great upside. In his last three games, he has over 20 fantasy points in all of them, over 25 fantasy points twice, and, obviously, over 35 fantasy points once. He is best suited for tournaments, but for his price tag, do not avoid him in cash games.
Justin’s Rapid Reaction: Hood comes with good upside, and he’s a solid tournament play tonight.

Jimmy Butler – Jimmy Butler is one of the better small forward options in the league tonight. He gets a solid matchup against the Detroit Pistons, and he should be able to take advantage. For his price tag, he can be used in both 50/50 contests and tournaments. Over Butler’s last seven games, he has over 45 fantasy points in five of them. He even posted over 50 fantasy points once. He is consistent, for the most part, and has great upside.
Justin’s Rapid Reaction: I’m not a huge fan of Butler, but he should play well with Wade out.
Dario Saric – Does this recommendation really need justification? Dario Saric has been great since a week before the break, and he is going to continue to play well tonight against the Milwaukee Bucks. Saric has over 40 fantasy points in four of his last six games, posting under 35 fantasy points only once in his last 10 contests. He is very consistent, and he has great upside. Roster him in all leagues, especially since he can be used at the power forward or center position on DraftKings.
Justin’s Rapid Reaction: Saric has been on fire, and he’s a great option in all leagues.
Hassan Whiteside – Hassan Whiteside has been playing extremely well of recent. He has over 40 fantasy points in four of his last five games, posting 39.25 fantasy points in his last game, which was against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Tonight, he gets a second chance to post over 40 fantasy points against the Cavs, and he is going to make it count. Whiteside is a great scorer and elite-level rebounder. He also contributes in the blocked shots category, as well, which is a large part of why his upside is so high.
Justin’s Rapid Reaction: Whiteside has looked outstanding over his last few games, and he can be used in all leagues.
Clint Capela – Clint Capela has been playing great of recent for the Houston Rockets. In his last game, he posted over 40 fantasy points in 29 minutes. With that kind of upside and a price tag as low as his, Capela is tough to avoid in 50/50 contests or tournaments. He has over 25 fantasy points in four of his last five games, posting over 30 fantasy points in three of those games. Roster him in all leagues.
Justin’s Rapid Reaction: Capela is solid tonight.
Justin’s Daily Fantasy Basketball Picks
Ricky Rubio – There are a ton of elite point guard options on the slate tonight, but Rubio leads the way. He has been on fire since the All Star break, averaging 11.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, 11.0 assists, and 2.2 steals per game. He still comes with a surprisingly low price tag, and he gets an elite matchup against the Blazers tonight. There’s no reason to avoid Rubio, and he can safely be used in all leagues.
Jason’s Rapid Reaction: Ricky Rubio has been solid over his last few games. Roster him in all leagues.
Spencer Dinwiddie – Dinwiddie is a cheap option that comes with good upside. He has scored at least 20 fantasy points in five of his last seven games, including one game with more than 40 fantasy points. He gets a terrible matchup against the Grizzlies tonight, but that has kept his price down, and Dinwiddie comes with more than enough upside to be used as a salary relief option in all leagues.
Jason’s Rapid Reaction: Spencer Dinwiddie, with his matchup tonight, should be used more in tournaments.
Kawhi Leonard – Leonard continues to be a huge part of the Spurs offense, although he was recently on a cold streak. That streak has ended, though, as he has scored 69.5, 54.75, and 54.5 fantasy points in his last three games. He gets a good matchup against a fast paced Rockets team tonight, and the Spurs will need Leonard’s offense to keep this game close. He can be used in all leagues.
Jason’s Rapid Reaction: Kawhi Leonard is generally a great option in all leagues.
Nemanja Bjelica – Bjelica is a player that flies under the radar a bit, but he has really been heating up recently. Over his last three games, he’s averaging 33 fantasy points in 29.3 minutes per game. He’s a player that can contribute in multiple categories, and he should be locked into solid minutes tonight. He also gets a great matchup against the Blazers, and Bjelica can be used in all leagues.
Jason’s Rapid Reaction: Nemanja Bjelica can be used in all leagues, until he cools down.
Jusuf Nurkic – Nurkic continues to make strides as a player, and he has been controlling his fouls a bit more since being traded to the Blazers. He recently scored as high as 55.5 fantasy points in a game, but he also scored as low as 17.5 fantasy points. He’s a big man that can contribute in each of the five categories, and he gets an elite matchup against the Wolves tonight. Nurkic is a great tournament option.
Jason’s Rapid Reaction: Jusuf Nurkic is the best center option available.
Amir Johnson – Al Horford is currently questionable tonight, and Johnson will become a must start if Horford is out. Johnson has scored 36 and 32.5 fantasy points in his last two games, and he still comes with a terribly low price tag. He gets a decent matchup against the Clippers tonight, as well. Keep an eye on Horford’s status before the game to make a decision o Johnson.
Jason’s Rapid Reaction: If Horford is out, roster Amir Johnson is all leagues.
