 Jason’s Daily Fantasy Basketball Picks

Guard

Top Play:

Russell Westbrook – Russell Westbrook is obviously a great option at the point guard position tonight. He gets a fantastic matchup against the Golden State Warriors, a team that he tends to really enjoy beating. Kevin Durant is still out, but that will not stop Westbrook from attempting to prove his point. He posted over 70 fantasy points in his last game against the Warriors, and he should do something similar tonight. His price tag is very high, but there is great value tonight, so he is rosterable in all leagues.

Justin’s Rapid Reaction: There is plenty of value tonight, which means Westbrook can be used in all leagues.

Value Play:

Nik Stauskas – Nik Stauskas is a great option in tournaments tonight against the Orlando Magic. The Magic struggle defensively, and Staukas has been seeing around 25-30 minutes per game. In his last two contests, he has over 25 fantasy points in both of them. He is contributing in more than just scoring. In his last two games, he has 13 rebounds, six assists, and three steals. If he continues to contribute in other categories, rather than just scoring, he is going to continue to post big fantasy numbers. He is not consistent enough for cash games.

Justin’s Rapid Reaction: Stauskas is a decent option, but there are other options I like much more tonight.

Forward

Top Play:

Gordon Hayward – Gordon Hayward has been playing well of recent, and he gets a great matchup against the uptempo Indiana Pacers tonight. The Pacers are going to force the Utah Jazz to increase the tempo of the game, which will benefit Hayward. In his last four games, Hayward has over 30 fantasy points in three of them, so the consistency is there. Against the Detroit Pistons, he posted over 45 fantasy points in 34 minutes. He is a huge part of the Jazz offense, and he can be rostered in all leagues tonight.

Justin’s Rapid Reaction: I don’t mind Hayward in tournaments tonight.

Value Play:

Taurean Prince – Taurean Prince needs to be rostered in both 50/50 contests and tournaments. His price tag is very low, he gets a great matchup against the Charlotte Hornets, and he has at least 24 fantasy points in three of his last four games. He has over 30 fantasy points in two of his last four games. There is just no reason that he does not hit value tonight, especially when he is expected to see around 30 minutes on the court. Roster him in all leagues without hesitation. His low price tag makes rostering Russell Westbrook much easier.

Justin’s Rapid Reaction: Prince is the best play on the board.

Center

Top play:

Rudy Gobert – Rudy Gobert is one of the best centers in the league, and he gets a good matchup against the uptempo Indiana Pacers tonight. The Pacers will not be able to out-rebound Gobert, and he has over 40 fantasy points in four of his last six games. He also has over 30 fantasy points in all of his last six games, so he is not duding, even when he does not post huge fantasy numbers. Pair Gobert with Gordon Hayward in both 50/50 contests and tournaments, even if both of them are better suited for tournaments.

Justin’s Rapid Reaction: Gobert is an elite option at center.

Value play:

Cody Zeller – Cody Zeller is a great tournament option. He gets a good matchup tonight against the Atlanta Hawks, and he has been playing big minutes for the Charlotte Hornets, but he does not always produce. In his last game, he posted over 35 fantasy points in 33 minutes, so the upside is obviously there. In the game prior, he posted under 25 fantasy points. He struggles from time to time, but do not rule him out in tournaments. His upside is great.

Justin’s Rapid Reaction: Zeller is a high upside tournament option tonight, but he’s a bit too risky for cash games.

Justin’s Daily Fantasy Basketball Picks

Guard

Top Play:

Elfrid Payton – Payton isn’t the most reliable player on the slate, but it’s impossible to argue with his upside. He has really benefitted from the Magic’s recent uptick in pace, and he’s averaging 10.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, 8.8 assists, and 1.4 steals per game over the last 10 days. He also gets an elite matchup against the Sixers tonight. If you’re looking for triple double potential that doesn’t come with a ridiculous price tag, Payton is your guy.

Jason’s Rapid Reaction: Payton is a high upside GPP play, but I focus more on Westbrook tonight.

Value Play:

Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot – Luwawu-Caberrot makes a great salary relief option on this slate. He’s playing solid minutes for Philadelphia, he comes with a low price tag, and he has scored at least 18 fantasy points in each of his last five games. He likely isn’t going to dominate tonight, but he’s the type of salary relief option that will allow you to get the more expensive guys. He can be used in all leagues.

Jason’s Rapid Reaction: Luwawu-Cabarrot is a decent cash game option, but I prefer Stauskas in GPPs.

Forward

Top Play:

Paul George – I wouldn’t recommending spending up for forwards tonight, but George is an interesting option if you do. He always comes with elite upside because of his role in the Pacers offense, but he gets a terrible matchup against the Jazz tonight. That has caused his price drop, though, and he could easily exceed value if he catches fire early in this game. He isn’t more than a boom or bust tournament option tonight, though.

Jason’s Rapid Reaction: George can be used in GPPs, but he isn’t my favorite option out there.

Value Play:

Ersan Ilyasova – Ilyasova has been named the starter in place of Paul Millsap, and he should easily exceed value tonight. He’s averaging 21.6 fantasy points in only 21.2 minutes per game over the last 10 days, and it would be surprising if he plays less than 30 minutes tonight. He also gets a good matchup against the Hornets, and Ilyasova can be used in all leagues.

Jason’s Rapid Reaction: Ilyasova is an elite option in all leagues tonight.

Center

Top play:

Nikola Vucevic – Vucevic is currently questionable, but he is expected to play tonight. He has been on fire recently, as he has scored at least 40 fantasy points in seven of his last 10 games. He gets a great matchup against the Sixers, who he is averaging 45.5 fantasy points per game against this season, and Vucevic is still cheap enough to be used in all leagues once he’s announced as the starter.

Jason’s Rapid Reaction: I prefer Vucevic in tournaments tonight.

Value play:

Mason Plumlee – Plumlee isn’t exactly cheap, but he is a good value play. Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari, and Darrell Arthur have all been ruled out again tonight, which means Plumlee will be locked into big minutes. He’s an extremely versatile big man, and he has been a consistent option with great upside recently. He is reasonably priced on this slate, and he gets a great matchup against the Rockets tonight. He can be used in all leagues.

Jason’s Rapid Reaction: Plumlee has been playing well enough for all leagues.

Jason’s Daily Fantasy Basketball Picks Guard Top Play: Victor Oladipo – The only issue with rostering players from the Oklahoma City Thunder and Philadelphia 76ers game is the potential for a blowout. If this game stays close, both Russell Westbrook and Victor Oladipo should hit value. Oladipo has consistently been posting over 30 fantasy ...
