Sub $4K Value
Cory Joseph – San Antonio PG ($3400)
I will once again dive into the fantasy mire that Popovich propagates and pull out an underrated gem. Given enough playing time, Joseph has been hitting value easily at this rock-bottom price. He’s a safe bet today because Tony Parker has already been ruled out (a non game-time-decision by Pop? It’s a miracle!). For $700 more, you can get his teammate Patty Mills, who has been playing very well recently. Both have limited downside today and will be in a lot of my lineups.
Jeremy Evans – Utah SF/PF ($3000)
I rolled with Evans last night against the Lakers and I’m glad that I did. For minimum salary, he returned over 30 points. He goes up against the porous Philly defense. Philadelphia has been playing some of the worst basketball I’ve ever seen in the NBA (no, that is not hyperbole). Utah is at home, where is plays much better, which means that this game could get out of hand. Enter Evans. He only needs 18 to hit my 6X value threshold. I like his chances.
Miroslav Raduljica – Milwaukee C ($3000)
OK, this may be a bit of a reach, but hear me out! John Henson is out and so are Larry Sanders and Epke Udoh. This pick hinges on whether or not Ersan Ilyasova plays. At this point he is questionable. If he ends up not playing, however, the Bucks only have three bigs and will be forced to play Miroslav. In his last two games with more than 20 minutes of playing time (something that is highly likely if Ersan is out), he has gone for 22 and 24.5 fake points. Watch for updates on Ersan. If he is out, then I’m rolling with Radu in a couple of GPPs.
Chase Budinger – Minnesota SG/SF ($3300)
Man, I’m loving some of this sub-$4K value tonight! Budinger is going to start again with Martin out. He is playing in a game with a 208.5 O/U. He is probably the safest near-minimum salary play tonight.
Gerald Wallace – Boston SF/PF ($3700)
Avery Bradley is doubtful tonight, which means that Wallace will likely get the start at SG again. Unfortunately, Wallace is not eligible at SG on DraftKings, but you can slot him in elsewhere. He has limited downside when he starts and has 40 point upside. He probably won’t make any of my 50/50 lineups tonight, but will be in several GPPs.
Sub $5K Value
Zaza Pachulia – Milwaukee C ($4600)
Yes, another Milwaukee center. I can’t believe it either. Zaza, however, has been playing great basketball since he’s returned from injury and should be getting roughly 30 minutes of playing time tonight. He’s gone for at least 25 points in each of the last four games and should be a fairly safe bet to hit that number tonight. He doesn’t have great upside, but I love him tonight in 50/50s. ZAZA!!
Marvin Williams – Utah SF/PF ($4500)
Before last night’s game against L.A., Williams had been averaging 33.45 fantasy points over his last five games. He only had 19.25 last night, but I chalk that up to him not having to play as much (indeed, he only had to play 22 minutes and the bench guys some some more run). Fortunately, his price dropped as a result, which makes him a better value. There is some risk of blowout again against Philly, so keep that in mind, but I think the UNC product can do enough to warrant starting him tonight.
