Ian’s Daily Fantasy Basketball Picks
Damian Lillard – Is finding the point guard playing the 76ers and putting him into my daily fantasy basketball lineup becoming cliche yet? Lillard won Rookie of the Year last season and is clearly not going through a sophomore slump as he is quickly establishing himself as a Star in the NBA for years to come. Lillard is a nightly threat for 20+ points scored and 10+ assists and tonight those numbers should be easily achieved against the atrocious point guard defense of the 76ers. Both these teams like to play an uptempo game and as long as the 76ers hang in this game there will be TONS of fantasy value throughout this game.
Dave’s Rapid Reaction: He’s my top PG play tonight as well. With a 224.5 O/U I don’t see any reason why he shouldn’t be in lineups. Even with the blowout factor in mind, achieving 40FPs in 3 quarters of play is a distinct possibility. And no, it isn’t cliche — it’s smart.
Darren Collison – CP3 went down with a shoulder injury last night and Collison quickly stepped in and filled in to the tune of 20 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. As I write this the extent of CP3’s injury is unknown but if he is forced to miss tonight’s game Collison will becomes a near must play for bottom barrel salary. There is no reason for the Clippers to rush their SuperStar back onto the court and even if Paul plays tonight Collison should get a bit more run. The Spurs are a solid team defensively at most positions but are no better then average against point guards making this a solid matchup as well. If CP3 is fine tomorrow and returns to action I also like Dion Waiters as a sleeper guard.
Dave’s Rapid Reaction: Looks like we have the same point guards listed tonight. Enough said. Don’t let the matchup scare you off. SAS is allowing the 3rd most FPPG to opposing point guards over their last 15 games. He should be good for 25-30FPs in 35 minutes of work.
Kevin Durant – It’s rare I pay for the big boys since their salaries are so high it makes it near impossible for them to value, but tonight KD gets to take on K-Love and his Special Sauce. This will be a high scoring, competitive game and the Durantula will need to put up one of his signature 30 point 10 rebound 10 assist games for the Thunder to escape with a win. Luckily KD already has a 30 point, 12 assist and 10 rebound game versus the TWolves this year so repeating it shouldn’t be a problem. He gets the slight edge over Love tonight as my number one fantasy option for the evening.
Dave’s Rapid Reaction: ummm, maybe we should’ve just written one column together? This is getting out of control.
Paul Pierce – I fully expect The Truth to roll his wheelchair out onto the court tonight and give the Cleveland Cavalier’s worst in the NBA small forward defense a shellacking. Pierce has been mostly forgotten about this season as the Nets are easily the biggest laughing stock in the NBA with their atrocious performances and $110+ million lineup. The good news about Pierce being forgotten about this season is that it will be no problem for him to pay off his low midrange salary against a bad Cavaliers team. Pierce is also the first scoring option with the Nets’ second unit and he will score early and often tonight while adding a few peripheral stats to pad his total fantasy points scored.
Dave’s Rapid Reaction: No! Another one! I thought I was sneaky with my PP34 play tonight. Great option vs. CLE.
Nikola Pekovic – After five double doubles in a row Peko cooled off a bit last game and only pulled down seven rebounds yet he is still scoring near 20 points a game. There is little chance of Perkins doing anything to slow down this ogre tonight and a double double will come easy to the big man. In these teams first showdown this season Peko went for 22 points and 10 rebounds and there is no reason to think he won’t do it again tonight. He’s also very fairly price across the board making it a win win situation.
Dave’s Rapid Reaction: FINALLY! Someone who hasn’t overlapped in our column. He should be solid as usual, but I see a bit more upside in someone like Noah tonight, who is more diverse on the offensive side of the ball.
Miles Plumlee – Plumlee has spent this NBA season performing well in good match ups and struggling in poor ones, and tonight is a great matchup. The Bucks are doing their darndest to be the worst team in the NBA against opposing centers and Plumlee is going to do his best to help them out on their quest tonight. Over the last ten games the Bucks have allowed an average of 25 points and 17 rebounds a game to opposing Centers and although Plumlee isn’t likely to quite hit those numbers he will be in for a good game.
Dave’s Rapid Reaction: This must be some type of record. 5 of the 6 players are in the Daily Dozen today. But that’s a good thing for our readers right? Reinforcing our top plays could never be a bad thing.
